The staff has been carefully selected for its knowledge, training and practical experience with the special needs
child. Because of Lee Mar's uniqueness, staff apply from all over the United States, as well as internationally.
Our staff is caring, attentive, and committed to providing your child with positive and enriching experiences. Parents often mention how the counselors call, write and visit the children after camp is over. It seems the Lee Mar season never ends!
Camp for the Lee Mar staff actually begins one week BEFORE the children arrive. Although many counselors and other
staff members return season after season, all are required to participate in an intensive pre-camp orientation program.
New approaches, innovative activities and varied program adaptations are continually incorporated into the Lee Mar
experience.
During the staff orientation, our counselors are immersed in seminars on camp philosophy, camper objectives, schedules
and routines, and workshops by activity program heads and coordinators. They carefully read all camper reports - school,
medical, psychological, speech and social, unpack camper luggage, and organize and decorate the rooms.
Can you gain college credit by working at Camp Lee Mar? You certainly can! Camp Lee Mar is recognized throughout the Special Education field and all our departments are supervised by certified personnel. Speech pathologists, for example, can log credit hours toward ASHA certification. Apprenticeships and internships can be arranged as well.
