Camp Lee Mar: Staff Experience

Camp Staff

Being a staff member at Camp Lee Mar is far more than a summer job; it’s a unique opportunity to experience overnight camp, while living in the Pocono Mountains of PA. Camp Lee Mar will also serve as a rare opportunity to reach your full potential by helping others reach theirs. Most importantly, it’s a place where being a family is encouraged and both campers and staff are urged to be themselves.

Every game, art project, event, meal, and trip is designed for our special needs campers. Parents know that their child will be included and able to participate to the best of their ability.

It is important to us that staff enjoy their time working at Camp Lee Mar. Working at Camp Lee Mar is rewarding, with natural challenges throughout. Working with campers with special needs requires patience, stamina, and cooperation.

Do I need to work at camp for the entire session?2023-11-15T17:19:42+00:00

Yes, we do want our staff to remain the same for the entirety of the summer. This provides our campers with the most comfortable environment in which to grow, learn, and have fun.

Where are your staff members from?2023-11-15T17:19:58+00:00

Our staff joins us from nearly every corner of the world, including all over the United States, Europe, and many other places.

Will I get days off?2023-12-16T01:38:53+00:00

Staff members get six days off during camp, as well as one day off during orientation week. Days off are assigned and remain the same day of the week for the duration of the summer. Day off groups have the opportunity each week to meet and discuss their day off plans.

What should I pack?2023-11-15T17:20:21+00:00

The most important thing to keep in mind is to pack for comfortable, active, warm days. We expect that all of our staff, both counseling and support, dress appropriately for work around children; camp is a fun but professional working environment. Clothing should not be revealing, should not promote illegal substances or products that are illegal to minors, nor should it include offensive/inappropriate language or images.

What kind of staff training does Lee Mar provide?2023-11-15T17:20:55+00:00

Our staff participate in a week-long orientation prior to our campers’ arrival. This allows everyone to familiarize themselves with camp and its approaches, innovative activities and varied program adaptations. The staff orientation week is packed full of workshops run by our directors, program heads and coordinators. Orientation covers everything from camp’s beginnings to the day-to-day running of a cabin. This week also provides our staff with the time to get to know our campers’ needs before they arrive, by studying the camper reports and profiles.
