Visiting Day occurs halfway through the summer for current families. Families can arrive at camp at 1:00 pm. You will be given the opportunity to walk around camp, and receive in-person reports from our staff at speech and academics. There will also be a show at the pool where the campers will display how much their swimming has improved at camp. Afterwards, feel free to play basketball, soccer, or any of the other sports around camp. If you would like, you may take your camper out of camp either for dinner, or just to spend more time together. We ask that families drop their campers off and say their goodbyes by 5:00 pm.
No worries; we will keep your camper happy and busy. Our campers without visitors enjoy a fun-filled day off of camp. We make sure that these campers are not at Lee Mar at the same time as the families.
Letters can be addressed to the following:
450 Route 590,
Lackawaxen, PA 18435
Parents can also expect to hear from their campers, as we have time set aside for letter writing each week.
Yes, but we suggest that all packages are kept to the size of a large envelope.
Campers generally LOVE celebrating their birthdays at camp. We throw the camper a birthday party with their group, and families can order a cake and send decorations if they would like. Of course, the family can call in to speak with their camper and wish them a happy birthday!
Can my camper bring their phone, iPod, iPad, kindle, or handheld gaming device (such as Nintendo Switch or Nintendo 3DS) to camp?
Phones are not allowed at camp, but iPods, iPads, kindles, and handheld gaming devices are. Please keep in mind that these items are the camper’s property, and camp is not responsible for any loss or damage.
We also ask that all data plans are turned off while the campers are at Lee Mar.
Our program is structured to help campers adjust to the new setting and people. Additionally, our in-person interviews with each potential camper and review of IEPs helps us determine how to best accommodate our new campers.
Our two registered nurses, assisted by two nursing student, distribute all medication. Our Health Center is organized and equipped to keep your camper properly medicated.
Over the years, Lee Mar has had campers with various medical conditions; the medical staff is experienced and well trained to handle the health needs of campers.
Camp Lee Mar uses CampMeds Inc. to distribute medications. To ensure the health and safety of our campers, all medication must be dispensed by CampMeds and sent to camp prior to the campers’ arrival. Please click HERE for more information about CampMeds.
